Fries with that Hate?

Of course Mike Huckabee created “Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day.” Other than being bigoted, Mike used to be obese. Now he’s just bigoted, which makes him an ideal role model and brings a whole new meaning to the song, “I wanna be like Mike.”

I wonder, does Chick-Fil-A instruct its employees to ask, “Do you want fries with that hate?”

I could waste my time arguing about the insanity of showing appreciation for hatred. On the flip side, truth be told, it’s more in keeping with the spirit of things. In fact, showing appreciation for hatred perfectly reflects the current reality in America.

Why stop with “Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day?”

Let’s celebrate “Massacre Appreciation Day,” to show universal support for unhinged gunmen.  Or “Birther Appreciation Day,” to celebrate Donald Trump’s birthright to piss in a separate bathroom, so he doesn’t have to see a black penis and wrestle with inadequacy. Or “Torture Appreciation Day,” to celebrate the high benchmark left by Dick Cheney who, instead of sexy, brought torture back.

In summation, “Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day” is a testament to the founding father’s timeless proposition that all men are created equal in their resentment for each other.

God Bless You. And God Bless Hatred In America.

    This battle is a distraction.

It might be a distraction. It’s probably a distraction. I wasn’t even cued into this until I got an email from Andy, asking my thoughts on Chick-Fil-A. Maybe he was trying to draw me into the muck. Or maybe it was worth noticing. I can’t tell.

Yesterday was particularly troubling, to see people line up to celebrate hatred. This is not about freedom of speech. This is about humiliating people you’re uncomfortable with, by shaming them back into the closet.

It would be like having white milk day at lunch counters to protest integration back in 1963. Yes, it’s your right to behave like a bully. But even more important than freedom of speech is exercising your grown-up perspective. There are gay kids killing themselves, right now!

I’ve never hated Mike Huckabee. He made me uncomfortable. But I didn’t hate him. Now I do. Mike Huckabee is officially the Bull Connor of Fox & Friends.

  2. Andy says:

Why is everything I do a conspiracy? Drive you into muck? Yesterday was Americans telling Unamericans that there is an absolute right to free speech and freedom of religion. Droves of pissed off people showed up just like the Passion of the Christ. No censorship – this is a free country and will remain free. Could you imagine every JBH customer vetting your political opinions before they ordered their food. Even though JBH was located in the heart of Leftyville, there were decent family people who came in to eat. What if every one of those families who disagreed with you on a political issue boycotted. MADNESS!

P.S. There were reports of the gays eating at Chick Fil A to support free expression.

    • Gregor says:

      It’s not a conspiracy. Lighten-up, Francis!

I appreciated having you point me toward a story which was getting a lot of traction. So thank you. Now take a chill-pill.

I do think those “droves of pissed-off people” are simply in love with being pissed-off. If they stopped to think about it, they’d recognize how awful it must have looked to Gay Kids, seeing a Parade Of Hate.

By the way, JBH wasn’t in Leftyville. I was caught off guard, many times, when I first moved back from NYC (real Leftyville), and ended-up in conversation after conversation with staunch Bush Supporters.

I also want to take issue with your “decent family people” comment. Lots of the families who came in were snotty, demanding and terrible at parenting. I’d be more discerning with who you label “decent.”

Procreating is hardly a pre-condition for decency. Oh, by the way, JC Watts was Republican, which creates a historical precedent for self-haters who made the demeaning pilgrimage to Chick-Fuckin-Fil-A.

  3. Andy says:

PHELPS DID IT!!!!!!! Anyway you throw around the word ‘hate’ waaaay too much everytime you disagree with someone and people just assume you’re crying wolf.

    Check out JC Wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._C._Watts
I won’t go into it but it’s an amazing story. So what exactly makes a sellf-hater out of JC? Are blacks like Jay-Z who sell drugs in their neighborhood and ruin black families your and Vince’s idea of ‘good blacks’? How about General Powell is he a sell hater too? Check out his autobiography it’s a long read but an amazing story. Colonel Allen West- a lifetime of service at staff level is he a self hater? Or do you prefer Flavor-Flave? Are blacks only good to you side when they’re mired in a liberal housing project voting for an ASSHOLE LIKE RAHM who cares so much about the poor children he sends his kids to $30,000 per year private schools AND if you dare ask him he throws a temper tantrum
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKf4HmiNNDI
what can’t answer a question after all isn’t he Mr. Badass Rhambo? Oh and FYI %90 of black mothers SUPPORT SCHOOL VOUCHERS WHY THE FUCK HASN’T THE DEMOCRAT PARTY DELIVERED VOUCHERS TO THEIR MOST IMPORTANT VOTING BLOCK? Teachers union would be my guess. So millions of blacks get inferior education and the mayor’s kids get the University of Chicago Lab schools-his kids flourish the people he sooooo deeply cares about get fucked. Democrats at work.

Chick Fil A-What did it look like to gay kids. It’s a fair question some gay kids are sent off to outright criminal reeducation camps and are killing themselves 4-5x the rate of straight kids. Dan Savage has a movement going for gay teens. I think what gay teens and adults have to realize is that some people disagree with your lifestyle and always will. But don’t go killing yourself over it talk to an adult reach out somewhere. I think the public has been made aware of this problem and society is addressing gay suicide and it will begin declining. There. Time for paperwork.

This is an actual quote from the father of JC Watts, “A black man voting for the Republicans makes about as much sense as a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders.”

Colin Powell needs to answer for his United Nations Testimony about WMD’s in Iraq. I think he tried to make up for it by publicly endorsing Barack Obama for president in 2008. But he still needs to be held accountable. I don’t see him as a Republican. I see him as a War Criminal.

I admire Jay-Z. I think he’s a great rapper. Never thought I’d like rap. But after I heard “New York State Of Mind,” I bought my first rap album, The Blueprint 3. I love it. I loved it so much, when Jay-Z went on tour with Kanye West, on their “Watch The Throne Tour,” I scalped a ticket at The United Center. What a show! Since then, I’ve learned as much as I can about Jay-Z (AKA Sean Carter). He came from the streets, raised in the Marcy Projects. He spent his 20′s hustling and selling drugs. He tried to get signed to a record deal. But was denied by every label. He self-produced. Now he’s had more number one albums than The Beatles, 11 or 12, I lost count. I think his upbringing was terrible. Most would be dead, or in jail. But Jay-Z has something special, there’s no denying it. I could say more, but I’m a crummy historian. I wish Walter Isaacson would write a biography on Jay-Z. I’d buy it long before I bought that stupid book on Steve Jobs.

I don’t think it’s up to Dan Savage to save every single Gay Kid with the “It Gets Better Project.” I admire the project. I’m a fan of Dan Savage. I’m a big fan. But a bunch of grown-ups telling teenagers that it gets better has never worked before and it won’t work now. At least, not entirely. Dan Savage is doing God’s Work, for sure, by advocating on behalf of the most vulnerable among us. But the rest of us need to step-up and learn how to take a look at the world through the eye’s of someone else. For starters, re-read “To Kill A Mockingbird.” That’s the theme of the book. That’s why it’s an American Masterpiece. Harper Lee wrote a beautiful book which shows clearly how we’re at our best when we see the world through the eyes of someone else, particularly when we can see the world through the eyes of the vulnerable.

My favorite rapper is\was Biggie Smalls. My son sean turned me on to him. BTW Amazing movie for anybody who has not seen it.Notorius B.I.G. The actor in that movie deserved an academy award. One of the best performances I have ever seen.

        • Gregor says:

Biggie Smalls was an amazing rapper and world class storyteller. Case in point…

          “It was all a dream
I used to read Word Up magazine
Salt’n'Pepa and Heavy D up in the limousine
          Hangin’ pictures on my wall
Every Saturday Rap Attack, Mr. Magic, Marley Marl
I let my tape rock ’til my tape popped
Smokin’ weed and bamboo, sippin’ on private stock
Way back, when I had the red and black lumberjack
          With the hat to match
          Remember Rappin’ Duke, duh-ha, duh-ha
You never thought that hip hop would take it this far
Now I’m in the limelight ’cause I rhyme tight
Time to get paid, blow up like the World Trade
Born filla, the opposite of a winner
Remember when I used to eat sardines for dinner
Peace to Ron G, Brucey B, Kid Capri
          Funkmaster Flex, Lovebug Starsky
I’m blowin’ up like you thought I would
Call the crib, same number same hood
          It’s all good

Uh, and if you don’t know, now you know…”

I missed it. I’m in Aspen for summer vacation. A couple days ago, Romney and all the Republican governors were here. This is a place where the ultra rich go to live in a care free wonder land. There’s no crime. There are no minorities, unless whites are now minorities.

I’m here, on a budget trip, but 90% of the people here are all super duper wealthy, or, Romney’s supporters. They come here for three weeks to two months. They bring their dogs and their hired help. It is surreal. A wonderland, with no thoughts of the on going plight of the world.
