"A time comes when silence is betrayal." -MLK This is a quote Ron Paul might want to reflect on, as he continues Taking The Fifth on his newsletter.

And Now, The History Of American Integration, As Told With Cookies...

Dred Scott v. Sandford: ruling which spit in the face of "All Men Are Created Equal."

Brown v. Board of Education: ruling which ended the clever lie of "Separate But Equal."

Loving v. Virginia: this ruling literally saved Barack Obama from being born a bastard .

Stanley Ann Dunham: Barack's kind-hearted, white mother.

Barack Hussein Obama, Sr: Barack's intellectually curious, black father.

President Obama: it turns out, the election of 2008 said more about us than it did about him. Please, Mister President, stand-up, for something, for anything. We want you to. No, really. We do.

"The History Of American Integration, As Told With Cookies," was made possible by Max's Deli, at 191 Skokie Valley Road in Highland Park, Illinois. Just a small, silly reminder of how sweet equality really is.

Fox News Cuts Abruptly Away From Gregor

My brother, Greg, was pretty upset after the shooting of Gabby Giffords; so he went to the Vigil. Greg was speaking from the heart when Fox News picked him up on their News Feed. He had no idea they were covering him, live. The abrupt cut-away underscored Greg's point. But they shouldn't have been so rude, cutting my brother off like that.

Earlier that day, my brother took me to the Mac Store in Scottsdale, Arizona. He happened to be goofing-off on a computer when he clicked on a news website (yes, my brother is a dork). There was a picture of Gabby Giffords, announcing she'd been shot. At the time, if you remember, she was even pronounced dead. The woman standing next to Greg burst into tears. That's how local the news was in Arizona.

Through her tears, the woman mentioned Sarah Palin's Hit List: so my brother googled it, there was Gabby Giffords, in the crosshairs. We just couldn't believe it. By the time he got to the Vigil, with so much raw emotion surrounding him in Arizona, the experience of the day seemed to inform what Greg said. Here's a link to Fox News abruptly cutting away from my brother, Greg Morelli.

As my family listens to all these pundits talk about something they're so removed from, it strikes us how little they really understand about what it's like out here. My Mom thought the Sheriff of Pima County, Sheriff Dupnik, was eloquent in his outrage. But he's already getting vilified.

It's as if we're more afraid of words than bullets. We can't even have a meaningful conversation about guns without a network which calls itself "Fair & Balanced" cutting my brother off before hearing him out.

The deepest hope of my family is Gabby survives and her family gets to see her grow old. We're lucky enough to be in Arizona celebrating my Dad's 70th birthday!

By the way, for an unvarnished glimpse of the Vigil, friend Greg Morelli on his facebook page and check out his photo album, "Gabby's Candlelight Vigil." Here's a link to becoming Gregor's facebook friend.
